Croatia Immigration Rules

Immigration Procedure

If entering Croatia from a third country (or departing to a third country) you will need a crew list which will be stamped by Immigration on arrival/departure.

Do I need a Visa?

Part of the EU since July 2013 and the Schengen Zone as of 1st January 2023, visa requirements for Croatia are in line with the rest of the European Union. Many foreign visitors do not require visas to enter the Schengen Zone for up to and including 90 days in any 180-day period. See the Noonsite EU page for full details. You will have to apply for a visa when traveling to Croatia if you are:
  • A citizen of a third-world country that has not reached a visa liberalization agreement with the EU;
  • A citizen of a third-world country that has reached a visa liberalization agreement with the Schengen states, but you were rejected from entering Croatia or any other Schengen country visa-free.

Other Visa Information

You can request an extension of your Schengen visa to Croatia, but this is normally only granted for serious reasons like health concerns or unforeseen circumstances. To extend your visa, you must submit a request to a local police station or administration in the area where you are staying in Croatia. Find out more at https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/how-to-extend-schengen-visa/ Croatia does offer a Digital Nomad Visa/Residence Permit: Remote workers can be granted temporary residence if they can prove they are working for companies that are not registered in Croatia. Third-country citizens can apply for this permit. It is normally valid for up to 18 months. If you need a visa to enter Croatia you can apply at your closest Croatia consulate. If you don't need a visa for Croatia you can apply at a Croatian police station. More details at Ministarstvo unutarnjih poslova Republike Hrvatske - Temporary stay of digital nomads.
