Croatia Customs Rules for Yachts

Length of Stay

The Customs regulations for Croatia are the same as other  EU member states as it is part of the EU Customs Union.

This means that non-EU yachts may only stay in the country for 18 months before import tax/VAT is payable.

EU yachts should be sure to have documents on board (e.g. a VAT invoice) proving their community status.

See Noonsite's EU page for more details.

Customs Rules

Arriving boats must report goods purchased outside the EU which are carried on board, and which exceed the quantity or value prescribed for relief from customs duty.  Customs officers have the right to conduct random and periodic checks of the vessel with respect to the status of the vessel or goods on board.

  • Firearms must be declared on arrival and will be sealed and checked again when leaving. See the Customs website for more details.
  • Foreign citizens spending more than 100,00 EUR are entitled to a VAT refund by handing to the Customs authorities the PDV-P form on departure from Croatia. See the Customs website for more details.
  • Bringing in personal medication is possible only in the quantities necessary for treatment for a maximum of one month, along with the appropriate medical documentation (history of illness, physician’s certificate). More details on medication at the Customs website.
