Jamaica is a rabies-free country and pets are restricted.

Only dogs and cats from nations that Jamaica regards as rabies-free are permitted entry.

If a visitor wants to bring their pet dog or cat into Jamaica, they must:

  • Complete a Preliminary Application Form
  • Obtain a Veterinary Import Permit
  • Complete all tests, treatments, and vaccination requirements
  • Obtain an Official Veterinary Export Health Certificate
  • Complete and Submit an Animal Landing Notification Form
  • Complete and Submit a Confirmation of Animal Arrival Form

Dogs/ Cats arriving in Jamaica without a valid Veterinary Import Permit and all supporting documentation will be denied entry into the island.

The inspector may allow the dog or cat to enter the island if they are deemed healthy and show no signs of infectious or contagious diseases, or they may mandate that they spend at least fourteen (14) days in post-entry quarantine at the National Quarantine Facility, Plumb Point.
