Benoa Harbor has limited mooring/anchoring options as it is Bali's busy commercial and fishing harbor, with tugs and barges coming and going for dredging and bulkhead upgrades.
Cruisers who have checked in at Benoa recommend anchoring in the harbor on the NE side, by the local boats.
After completing clearance formalities, it is usual to then head for the more popular anchorage at Serangan, just north of Benoa.
Benoa Bali Marina has space for up to 25 vessels on floating docks and it is possible to tie up here to undertake International Clearance procedures if this is your Port of Entry for Indonesia.
Construction has begun on the new full-service marina in Benoa Harbour, Bali, which will when completed - offer docking, mooring, repair, and other services including a haul-out facility and hard standing.
The project is a joint effort between Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo). SF Marina, a Sweden-based developer which focuses on floating breakwaters and concrete pontoons is currently in the process of producing the first pontoons, gangways and anchors for the marina and expects the first pontoons to be installed in mid-June
