Arriving in India with a Pet On Board

Imported pets must be microchipped.

Dogs and cats must be vaccinated for rabies at least 31 days before travel.

Required Documents

A License to Import issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in India is required for pets (dogs and cats) arriving in India for a temporary visit.

A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Animal Quarantine Station in India must be obtained before importation. The NOC can be applied for by mail, fax, or in person. Advance NOC can be issued within 7 days before arrival.

A licensed veterinarian in the originating country must complete a Health Certificate in English. Dogs must be free from Rabies, Canine Distemper, Parvovirus infection, and Leptospirosis, while cats must be free from Rabies, Distemper, Feline enteritis, Feline panleukopenia, and leptospirosis.
