Galapagos - Communications

The International Dialing Code for the Galapagos is +593.

Cellphones:

There is reasonable cell coverage in Santa Cruz, Cristobal and Isabella, but zero cell coverage in Floreana as many years ago the residents there voted not to have phones.

Internet:

If you need mobile internet on your phone, it is recommended to buy a SIM card with an internet package. 4G is available. Visitors find the network with the best coverage on the Galápagos Islands is Claro. There is a Claro shop on Santa Cruz. E-sims tend to be very slow.

There is internet access available on the islands in almost all hotels and cafes. However, speed varies wildly depending on the time of the day (i.e. mornings are faster).

Starlink services are available on the Galapagos Islands since 2023, and there are a number of systems on Floreana that don't need a password. However, speed is reported to be slow for Starlink, probably because there are so many active dishes.

Mail:

There are numerous places to send postcards. They may be purchased at most souvenir shops in Galapagos.
