Cyprus has an island climate with daily breezes that start off light in the mornings but can get strong in the afternoons. It is usually calm at night.

The prevailing wind direction is westerly (up to F7) and there are occasional easterly gales in the winter.

The summers are very hot and humid with temperatures up to 101°F (40°C) in July and August. There is little or no rain. The Meltemi blows from April to October, generally from the south in the mornings and strengthening and shifting to the west in the afternoon, normally up to 15-25 knots.

The winters are generally mild and pleasantly sunny. September to November are usually the best months for cruising. Winds may shift to the SE in December and January, with speeds of between 10 and 20 knots. During these 2 months is when the island sees the most rain.
