There are military restricted areas along the coasts and yachts should maintain a distance of 1640 ft (500 m) offshore by day and night unless approaching a port.
Spearfishing is prohibited within designated swimming areas, which are marked by red buoys. A special licence is required for spearfishing with scuba gear. This is issued only to certified divers and is easily obtained from the District Fisheries Departments, on presentation of a certified diving licence. There is no charge.
It is forbidden to take antiquities and sponges from the sea.
All expired flares must be submitted immediately for disposal to the Marina Personnel.
