Santa Cruz de Tenerife - Docking

Oct 24, 2018

YOU MUST PRE-BOOK A BERTH HERE – SEE TOP OF PAGE FOR DETAILS.

Entrance:

Yachts berth at either Marina Santa Cruz (also known as Marina del Atlantico) in the center of Santa Cruz or Marina Tenerife in the fishing harbor (Darsena Pesquera) some three miles north of the city or, if a berth is available, at Marina Radzul about 5 miles south of the city.

Marina Santa Cruz. Before entering or leaving Marina Santa Cruz, vessels should report to the Control Centre. Vessels should enter or leave using the channels assigned by the Port Authority, and in any case, as close as possible to the coast, avoiding crossing other entry and exit channels.

The marina is entered via the southern entrance into Muelle de Los Llanos, which is the southernmost basin facing Tenerife's capital. It is protected by a detached mole separating the marina from the rest of the commercial basin. There is no reception pontoon so it is essential that VHF contact with the marina is maintained to receive berthing instructions. Docking facilities are good and there is space available for visitors. The marina is now connected to the town by a footbridge making getting around a lot easier.

Marina Tenerife.  The entry channel for Marina Tenerife (at the fishing dock) is 100m wide and 2500m long, the entrance faces SW, has a width of 65m and a minimum depth of 9m. Yachts should wait for an assigned berth and not go to a pontoon unless instructed to do so by a port official. Note that the marina only have handheld VHFs, so it is likely they will signal from the pontoon to which they want you to berth. The marina is in the northern part of the port. The permanent watch is kept on VHF channel 9.

During the high season (September to December) it is advisable to make a reservation in advance. This is the only marina with a fuel dock for yachts. It is also possible to berth on the northernmost quay of the fishing harbor, which is administered by the Port Authority; a few yachts prefer this low-cost option, despite the lack of facilities.

Marina Radazul. The marina is located about 5 miles southwest of Santa Cruz. It is advisable to book well in advance for a berth and with good security, it offers a safe place to leave a yacht unattended be it on the hard or afloat. If arriving out of hours it is best to tie up to the pontoon alongside the breakwater, just inside the entrance.

Anchoring:

Without special permission from the Port Captain, there is no anchoring in Bahía de Antequera for yachts flying a foreign flag.
