Customs Rules for Yachts Arriving/Departing Belize

Length of Stay:

Foreign yachts may remain in Belize for up to three months, and then must leave the country.

Other Customs Rules:

  • Firearms and ammunition are usually removed and kept in custody by Customs until clearing out.
  • The importation of fruit or vegetables is strictly controlled, and from time to time there is a ban on certain products. For example citrus and avocados are currently banned. The Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA) may request a list of ship's stores (i.e. fresh produce) on arrival. For more information, visit their webpage.
  • The removal, sale, and exportation of the following are prohibited by law in Belize: any kind of coral without a license; archaeological artifacts; orchids; shells, fish, and crustaceans; turtles and turtle parts.
  • Everyone is required to declare any currency in their possession in excess of $10,000.00 BZ or foreign currency equivalent.
