Arriving in Guyana with a Pet onboard

All animals must be declared.

Cats and dogs require an Import Permit from the Ministry of Agriculture (Georgetown) and a Health Certificate issued by competent Authorities in the country of origin, stating that the animal was vaccinated against rabies less than one year but at least 30 days prior to arrival in Guyana. If the animal is traveling from a high-rabies country, a rabies titer test is required before entering Guyana.

Animals will be quarantined for 90 days unless arriving from the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Barbados, Dominica, Ireland, Jamaica, Montserrat, New Zealand, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, and the United Kingdom.

The Ministry of Agriculture website provides detailed information on the procedure for animal importation into Guyana.
