Deshaies is a good point from which to explore the mountains of Basse Terre.
There is a nice walk to Grande Anse beach from here - turn left from the dinghy dock, follow the road past the petrol station, up the hill, turn left just after the municipal stadium. About 35 min walk. There are bars and restaurants on the beach.
