Outside the port gate, several taxis are always available to drive you around. Fee for a one-way ride from the port to the town center (or supermarket) is between 500 to 1000 DJF (approx. USD 5).
Taxi prices can be confusing and double if after 20:00 hrs. Meters are not used, so be sure to ask the price first before taking the ride.
Be cautious about hiring a car and traveling outside the city. Check the local security advice. Avoid driving at night.
Cruising permits are needed to visit any other islands including Illes Moucha, but can take time to obtain.
