Cape Verdes Immigration Procedure for Yachts

All visitors require a passport valid for at least 6 months.

Do I Need a Visa?

A visa is no longer needed for stays of up to 30 days in Cape Verdes. There is a visa exemption for 36 countries (mainly Africa, Europe and the Americas plus the UK, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland and Vatican).

Citizens of NZ and Australia do need visas, however, this is normally waived for yachts in transit.

Find out if you need a visa for the Cape Verdes here.

To clear in at Port Immigration a fee of €5 applies per boat, independently of crew numbers.

Other Visa Information

If a visa is required, it is much better to arrange a visa in advance to avoid long queues, however, a visa can be arranged locally on arrival.

Visas can be obtained in advance from an Embassy or Consulate.

Incoming Crew and Guests

Air travelers must pre-register on EASE, 5 days prior to departure for Cape Verdes - https://www.ease.gov.cv/. Here they can pay the Airport Security Tax in advance. Crew departing by air will have to pay the tax at the airport prior to flying out (this can cause delays so arrive with plenty of time to spare).
