Arriving in the Canaries with a Pet On Board

Spain is a member of the EU wide Pets Travel Scheme (PETS).  This requires all animals to have a Pet Passport and a current Health Certificate (issued within 10 days of departure from last port).  A valid Rabies Vaccination Certificate issued by recognized Veterinarian is also required and the animal must be micro-chipped and have been blood tested prior to travel. Dogs, cats and any other pet/animal must be declared to Customs when arriving in the Canary Islands. For more information on the PETS see Travelling with Pets and Other Animals in the EU.
