Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria - Docking

Oct 23, 2018

Entrance

The white buildings covering the hills easily identify Puerto Rico from seaward, although one has to sail in fairly close before the marina entrance becomes clear. There are two well-protected harbors either side of a large common breakwater. The eastern harbor, Puerto Base, is for visiting yachts, while the western harbor, Puerto Escala, is used mainly by local craft.

Harbour Information

Both harbors are run by the same office and skippers should tie up at the reception berth immediately to port and just inside the breakwater, then report to the office at the end of the quay to be assigned their berth. The marina is usually full so it is essential to book three or four weeks in advance and no bookings are accepted in the month of November. The office is open permanently and monitors VHF channel 8 at all times.
