Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria - Boatyards

Oct 23, 2018

The marina has a 30-ton travelift, and there is a crane of 1.5 ton capacity for lifting masts, as well as a slipway. The boatyard is run by Talleres Gran Canaria Tel. 928 151 769, Fax 928 735171, open 0830-1800 Monday-Friday, 1000-1300 Saturday. The manager, Manuel Hidalgo, is very helpful. The yard is busy and well-run and can undertake a range of repairs. They are Volvo agents.

Contact the chandlery for any work required including general repairs, electronics, servicing, rigging, and sail repairs.

The range of repair facilities in the marina is expanding and a number of people in the yard are able to undertake repairs of outboard and inboard engines, and installation of electrical equipment, and fibreglass repair. Facilities are available for pressure jet cleaning and sand-blasting. Osmosis treatment is also possible, as Puerto Rico's very dry climate is ideally suited for this. For other repairs, it may be necessary to go to Las Palmas or have the marina call out a suitable specialist. The boatyard will arrange for liferaft service, stainless and aluminium welding and plumbing.
