Yacht Fees for Entering Australia

The Australian Border Fee does not charge a fee for inspecting and providing clearance into Australia for recreational vessels under 25m LOA.

Bisecurity

The only department that charges a fee is the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and as it is a fee for service it can vary from vessel to vessel.  It is also a full cost-recovery service.

Fees for Vessels (less than 25m) are:

  • $165 - Non-commercial vessel arrival charge
  • $63.00 per 15 minutes (out of office fee during ordinary hours of duty)
  • $39.00 per 15 minutes administration fee (in office fee during ordinary hours of duty).

Any vessel cleared outside of business hours or on a weekend would, in addition to previously listed fees, also attract applicable overtime charges. A full listing of all charges can be found at Fees and Charges for Biosecurity.

There are also fees for the disposal for biosecurity waste rubbish.

There is an annual fee if the boat remains in Australia for more than one year.

There are also charges for yachts carrying small animals (cats and dogs) which are bonded on board and which are applied on top of the above fees.

Departure Fees for Yachts

There is a departure tax of AUD$47 per person over 12 years old. This is payable whether one leaves by yacht or by air.
