Description:
The port of La Spezia lies at the head of a gulf of the same name, about 80NM east of Genoa.
It is one of Italy's principal naval ports. The whole of the northern part of the Gulf of Spezia is protected by a breakwater stretching across the Gulf, leaving a passage at either end.
Position:
44° 03.7'N, 09° 52'E (breakwater).
