La Spezia - Docking

The Gulfo La Spezia provides a wide range of mooring and anchoring options. If approaching at night, be careful of the many unlit mooring buoys located both inside and outside the Gulf of La Spezia breakwater.

On the western side of the pass between the mainland and Isola Palmaria, is the harbour of Portovenere which houses marina Misenti. A little further along, past the fuel berth, is a single pontoon, Pontile Ignazio. Be aware that this end of the pass is shallow.

At the head of the gulf, is the marina of La Spezia. There are 60 visitor berths here.

The Porto Turistico Mirabello is the new marina just south-west of that of La Spezia.

Inside the breakwater, Porto Lotti lies on the east bank and Marina di Fezzano opposite it, on the western side.

Anchorages

The anchorage at La Grazie harbour is close to the western pass of the breakwater and provides good shelter and holding in the mud. As well as anchoring in the bay, it may also be possible to moor to the quay.  Take care to avoid the prohibited naval areas here.

Another anchorage can be found at Muggiano, at the opposite end of the breakwater, just south of the eastern pass.

Just north of Muggiano is the harbour of Lerici, identifiable by its conspicuous castle. There are also mooring here. The shelter is reasonable in summer and the holding is good.
