The town has plenty of museums and the old parts of town, with Dutch buildings, Chinatown, Indiantown etc. are fascinating.
Other than taking a City tour, you can also visit some waterfalls and other sights in Pariaman, as well as an 'easy to get to' waterfall in Bungus (a possible anchorage too but further away from the city centre).
