Kupang - Docking

Anchorages:

There is a popular anchorage off the area previously known as “Teddy’s Bar” (now Restoran 999), with good holding in 6m in mud and sand. It is popular with yachts due to its convenience to town but can be noisy, especially from the adjacent mosque.

The area due west of this is not so good, mainly coral rubble.

You can land your dinghy on the beach in front of the restaurant, to the left of the small pier.  The surge can be quite strong sometimes so quick action on the beach may be required.  When going ashore take care of local fishing boats which are unlit at night.

You will also probably be approached by a number of  "boat boys" who will offer to watch your dinghy for a fee.  either per hour or per day. If you want a taxi, walk a short way to the main road or download the Grab or Gojek app and call one of these to meet you.
