General Process:

A detailed Customs declaration must be completed on arrival, where foreign currency and valuables must be indicated. Keep hold of this declaration until you leave the country.

  • The amount of local currency you hold on arrival must not exceed 25,000 GEL, and it is forbidden to export more than 3,000 GEL from the country.
  • Jewelry, a good camera, expensive electronics - must be declared.

Other restricted items:

  • Restrictions are also imposed on cigarettes – no more than 2 blocks.
  • Drugs cannot be transported across the border of Georgia. As well as weapons and explosives, pornographic and insulting materials to the state.
  • All prescription medicines must be accompanied by a doctor's note and also be declared. Possession of these items, even with a doctor’s prescription could if not declared, or if the quantity held exceeds legal limits, lead to administrative or even criminal proceedings. Check legal quantities of medicines before you travel with the Georgian Embassy London.
  • Firearms must also be declared.
  • Pornographic material is prohibited.
