Laundry services can be found at RSYC or several places in town.
Suva is one of the best provisioning centers among the Pacific islands and has an excellent fresh produce market. A visit to the Municipal Market, close to the center, is a unique experience. Kava roots can be bought here for the ritual gifts to village chiefs and also powdered kava, which may be more convenient to carry on a small boat.
There are several well-stocked supermarkets, with the best selections at New World, MH, Food4less, FoodTown. Most will offer free delivery and wholesale prices.
Cost-U-less (Costco subsidiary) is located outside the city center, opposite USP (University of South Pacific)
Excellent bread and rolls can be found at the numerous outlets of The Hot Bread Kitchen.
June 2009: Suva businesses have to close at 6 pm now unless they apply weekly and pay $20.00 for permits. This applies to bars, grocery stores (which mostly closed at 7 pm) and corner shops (and possibly gas stations).
