Suva - Boatyards

Jun 22, 2019

As a result of a large number of fishing boats and cruising yachts stopping in Suva every year, the Fijian capital has built up a good range of repair facilities and most problems can be dealt with.

However, there is no place designed exclusively for a yacht to be hauled. In an emergency, a yacht possibly could be hauled out at the Government slipway or at the RSYC but they have generally a long waiting list. Catamarans can dry out on the RSYC slipway for antifouling, or be hauled out at MISEL on the railway.

Security: A catamaran on the MISEL dry dock June 2014 reported a burglary during the night.

One of Suva's major disadvantages are the numerous rain showers, which make the west coast so much more attractive not just for cruising, but also for repair and painting jobs.
