Restrictions for Yachts in Curacao

Anchoring Restrictions

An anchoring permit is required in Curacao - See Clearance and fees for details on how to get a permit.

The Pre-Arrival Anchoring Permit form has details of all anchorages.

The following areas are the designated anchoring areas, for which only the harbormaster will issue an anchor permit.

1. Spanish Water lagoon (max 90 days) - see Spanish Water Docking for a map and details of permitted anchoring zones

2. Fuik bay (max 3 night)

3. Santa Martha bay (max 3 night)

4. Santa Cruz (max 3 night)

5. Piscadera bay (max 3 night)

6. Klein Curaçao (max 3 night)

The area from Jan Thiel Bay, SE of Willemstad, to East Point, is an underwater park. Permanent moorings are provided to protect the coral from damage and using one's own anchor is prohibited. No harpoons or spearguns are allowed.

It is not permitted to moor yachts in the St. Anna bay.

It should be noted that Westpunt Bai North and South are NOT recognized anchoring areas, and the Port Authority do not issue anchoring permits for them.

Commercial Activities

The Port Authority warn that foreign yachts are strictly prohibited to conduct any kind of commercial activities and that it will result in a fine.
