Taxis:

Most taxi drivers in the city are honest, but be sure to check the fare before getting into the taxi. The official rate (2023) from Manga to Centro is 8000 pesos, 10,000 at night. Manga to Bocagrande is 13,100 pesos and Centro to Bocagrande, 8000 pesos.

A Taxi to or from the airport is approx 20,500 pesos. An average hourly rate if you’d like your cab to wait while you do your errands is 40,000 pesos.

Buses:

Transcaribe is a modern mass transport bus system but you will need to purchase a bus pass in advance - tarjeta transcaribe - which can be obtained at principal stations.  Each journey will take about 2800
pesos from your card balance.

You will need to show your ID to obtain the bus pass - a copy of your passport should be sufficient.

Buses run all day along Av. Jimenez from Manga to Bocagrande. Fares vary depending on whether the bus has air conditioning or not.

If needing to get to Barranquilla (70 miles NE of Cartagena) for the American Consulate, Carnival (February) or Perkins parts etc. there is a coach from El Terminal de Transporte or Collectivo door to door (Transportes DOYFI - Tel: 660 8118 Cel: 300 808 7725 or Barranquilla 370 2633).
