Numerous banks and ATMs (cajeros), are conveniently located
throughout the city. There are good ATM machines inside the local Carulla supermarket and the nearby Banco Colombia.
Most ATMs give only 600,000 pesos per withdrawal. The ATM at Citibank in Centro near the Exito supermarket allows withdrawals of up to 2,000,000 pesos as a single transaction.
Do not use money changers on the street. Such operations are illegal and you will probably be cheated.
Use great care when banking here, especially outside of the Centro area. Perhaps use a taxi for return trips to your boat. Be aware that in a bank others may see you counting out large sums or you may be marked as a good target. Bancolombia (Bocagrande branch) and Banco Occidente (Centro near the Torre de Reloj) are good choices due to their location.
It is perhaps a good idea to have more than one credit card in case of emergencies and to have copies of your passport.
