Victoria (Canada) - Update History

Jun 12, 2022

Description:

Victoria is the oldest city on the west coast of Canada and is a vibrant, bustling city and seaport with a very English feel. It is located at the southern tip of Vancouver Island.  Marinas can be very busy here but there are anchoring options nearby.

Entrance Notes and Cautions:

Although the harbour is very busy, the entrance is wide and the current only runs at about two knots, so entering is straightforward.

Beware of the float plane landing strip in the area of the harbour known as Inner Harbour. It is marked by yellow buoys.

Cruiser Highlights:

Plenty of marine services and provisioning options here and on the east coast of the island.  See this report - Cruising the Coast of British Columbia - for useful pilotage notes, local boating tips, places to visit and weather and navigation links for the area.

Position:

48° 24.89'N, 123° 23.90'W (harbour entrance)
