History:

  • Belgium when into lockdown mid-March 2020. All nautical sports were prohibited.
  • Visiting yachts were still able to enter by completing a health declaration and possibly quarantine.
  • On 4 May, 2020, Belgium's lockdown exit strategy began and nautical sports were permitted once more, however not international voyages. Ports were open to local boaters and yachts in transit but facilities were closed.
  • 15 June, 2020, the border re-opened to citizens from the EU, the UK and the four other Schengen countries (Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway)
  • Belgium temporarily imposed a ban on non-essential foreign travel to and from Belgium - effective January 27 to March 1, 2021. All arrivals and trips by road, air, sea and rail trafficwere subject to the ban.
  • Belgium adopted a color-coded system with rules varying depending on where you were coming from.
  • In May all restrictions were lifted unless coming from a high risk country (of which there were none).
