There is a well stocked supermarket with other small shops, a hotel where you can have lunch and a couple of coffee shops also serving food and all within easy walking distance.
Market days are held on the first Saturday of every month, selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to pearls. If you’re after a real bargain, head to Friday Island. A water taxi takes 20 minutes from Thursday Island to Friday Island, and it’s here you’ll find the best pearls.
