Mackay - Transport & Travel

Taxis:

Taxis can be arranged at the Marina office.

Airport:

Mackay has an airport (20 mins from the marina), which is well connected to the rest of Australia. Flights are operated by Jetstar, Qantas, and Virgin Blue.

Local Buses:

Local buses depart from just outside the Mantra Hotel, near the marina.
Bus 304 goes to Caneland Central Shopping Centre (30-minute trip) and the town centre.

You will need to pay in cash.

There are long-distance bus services out of Mackay, but the distances are large and relatively irregular. Normally a hire car is the easiest option.

Hire Car:

Mackay Marina provides a car hire service “Rent A Wreck”, which costs (prices July 2024):

• AU$30 for a half-day hire (Morning 0845 – 1215; Afternoon 1230 – 1615; Evening 1630 – 0815) or,
• AU$59 per full day hire (0845 – 1615).
