Durres - Docking

Marinas:

The Cristian Marina is located within the port. More of a reserved area for yacht berthing, than a typical marina, they do have some facilities and an agency services (see releated businesses below for more details).

The port walls for berthing are high and made of concrete, so be prepared with fenders. Mooring is either stern-to or alongside. This is a working port so if there is a lot of shipping movement and it can be quite noisy and the quay dirty (with coal dust/ grain).

The Marina Manager and dock staff are reported to be very helpful and may well be waiting to tke your mooring lines on arrival. Security in the port is reported to be adequate.

Docking costs are charged per calendar day, so you will be charged for the day you arrive and every subsequent day after that, even if you leave the next morning it will still be charged as a day.

Anchoring:

Anchoring in the bay is not possible.

Ashore:

The marina is a 15 minute walk from town, through the port, and taxis can be easily arranged. Check what time the port gate closes if going out for dinner.

The town is good for supplies and re-provisioning with an excellent fresh produce market, but it can be difficult to find any repair facilities. There is an indoor and outdoor public pool just down the road from the port.

Your agent can arrange for diesel fuel and water from a truck as well as services to travel inland and security for the yacht.

It's possible to take the local bus to Tirana (2 Euros), a vibrant city, which takes just over half an hour.
