Tripoli - Transport & Travel

Aug 13, 2014

A private taxi from Tripoli to Beirut costs about 30 dollars. The bus costs less than one dollar (to be precise 1000 Lebanese pounds). Buses leave regularly between the two cities, but do not run to a timetable. They leave from the Clock Tower square.

Car rentals are fairly expensive but if you shop around you can find surprisingly reasonable prices. The country is notorious for the bad condition of its roads and the hair-raising driving style of the locals. Rules of the Road are nonexistent, and there are no speed limits. On the positive side, (in theory) everybody has agreed to drive on the right and fuel is cheap and easy to obtain.
