Fukuoka (Hakata) - Docking

Dec 05, 2023

This port is well marked and can be entered at night.

Public Dock:

Visiting yachts can moor for free (wall tie) on the west and south walls in the western part of Nagahama fishing port in central Fukuoka, with stores, restaurants, public baths, and many other facilities within walking distance.

Fukuoka is a vibrant city and most goods and services are available.

Marinas:

The two marinas here are on the western side of the city, in the Nishi district.

The newer one, Marinoa Marina, is more secure but berthing fees are higher. It is easily identified by the Ferris wheel. This marina handles both power and sailboats, and much larger boats. There is an outlet mall near Marinoa, with many restaurants and a Starbucks.

The Fukuoka City Yacht Harbour (Odo) is just a little further west, around the headland. It is only for sailboats up to approx. 45ft. There is a large supermarket and excellent hardware store within a five-minute walk of Odo.

This is a popular place for foreign cruisers to leave their boat over the winter.

Marinas elsewhere in Fukuoka:

The Shin-Moji Marina is in Moji, Fukuoka Prefecture, on the NW end of Kyushu at the very western end of the Seto Inland Sea. It is a very convenient place to stop before/after transiting the Kanmon Strait.
