Ukushima - Docking

Aug 18, 2019

Marina

On the southeast coast of Uku Shima is the village of Tiara (also named on some maps as Ukumachitiara). Uku Marina is in Tiara, which is a very well built and maintained municipal marina and is to the left of the main fishing and ferry harbor.

There are two sets of finger docks, secured with solid pilings. The largest docks can accommodate boats up to approx. 50ft.

The marina is well protected by a concrete wall and is not affected in the least by ferry traffic. It is an isolated and quiet mooring in a quiet village.

Ashore

The town is about a fifteen-minute hike. You pay your fee at the yellow/orange brick facade three-story building in the center of town.

There are toilets at the shore end of the pontoon and three or four markets in town and an Enos fuel station.

There is a hot-spring bath just a 3-minute walk up the hill behind the marina.

There is no WiFi.
