Kai (Kei) Islands - Docking

Jan 24, 2025

This attractive group of islands has some excellent anchorages.

Tual Harbour:

There is a good, safe anchorage in 9 - 15 metres over sand just off the main port. Look for the dock with the Marine Department vessels for a safe place to tie up your dinghy.  It is a short trip from the anchorage.  However, it can be very awkward scrambling up the broken concrete steps according to recent cruiser comments.

Provisioning is easy and good here with a fresh food market by the terminal. Fuel is available from one of the stilt houses where they have fuel drums for the fishing boats. A number of locals will offer to assist with procuring goods, fuel, laundry and tours etc. See recommendations from cruisers in the Related User Comments section.

Several locals may greet you and ask if they can assist with clearance and finding local services. See related user comments for information on using their services.

P Woha:

An attractive anchorage in 10 meters over sand and rocks. Anchor anywhere north of P Woha. Good protection from all directions. No facilities.
