Mumbai (Bombay) - Clearance

Dec 26, 2022

All yachts planning to enter Mumbai from outside India must contact the authorities at least 72 hours prior to arrival. This can be done either through The Bombay Yacht Club, their agent or their Consulate.

Channel VHF 12 must be monitored from when 12 miles offshore and Mumbai Harbour Control contacted when within 12 miles of the Prongs Reef Lighthouse for permission to enter the harbor.

Enter the harbor through the shipping channel, keeping the Prongs Light Tower on the port side. Sail between Sunk Rock Light (a red & yellow chequered tower) and Oyster Rock (a white cemented structure accommodating Naval staff). Anchor opposite the Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal Hotel, just after the Dolphin Light Tower.

The captain should go ashore to clear Customs and Immigration, whose offices are in the vicinity of the anchorage.

In Mumbai, Port Control (on Channel 12) must be contacted for permission to change anchorages as the movement of yachts within the harbor is strictly controlled.
