Description:

Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, is situated at the mouth of the Demerara River. It is a dirty, bustling port with no facilities for yachts. Yachts now rarely go to Georgetown and those that do report many problems. Yachts should proceed up the Essequibo river to Bartica where all formalities are routinely and quickly processed.

Entrance Notes and Cautions:

In Georgetown it is wise to maintain a high level of security awareness. Do not leave your vessel or tender unattended. Violent robbery is still prevalent in Georgetown.
