St George's - Pets

HURRICANE BERYL:  The island nations of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada were the worst affected by Hurricane Beryl at the start of July 2024. The Grenadines, Carriacou, Petit Martinique and Union Island were particularly hard hit.  While the islands are recovering and all major marine services are back up and running (apart from on Union Island), cruisers should be aware that the islands are still in recovery mode and some services may still be limited or not available.

Where is St. George's?

Located towards the southern end of the west coast of the island, the old harbour has seen tremendous restoration and is a most pleasant site to visit with internet cafes, restaurants, boutiques and souvenir shops.

Entrance Notes or Cautions for St. George's:

From a westerly direction to north of Annas Shoal there is a well marked channel north-east of harbour, with a minimum depth of 19.5 metres, that leads almost to quay. About 800 metres before quay, the channel turns north and there are shoals either side.

Cruiser Highlights for St. George's:

World Cruising Club are encouraging their ARC participants, as well as all other cruisers heading to the Caribbean, to buy tools to help people on the smaller Grenadine islands to rebuild after Hurricane Beryl.

Simple hand tools are expensive in the Caribbean, so buy before you sail, a plastic box containing hammer, various screwdrivers, pliers, pipe wrench, adjustable spanner, seizing wire, duct tape, thread tape, nails and screws.

Port Louis Marina, is collecting sets of tools and will get them to people on Union Island, Carriacou and all the small communities between St Vincent and Grenada affected by Beryl.
