Calais - Provisions And Laundry

Apr 27, 2024

No problem here!

Two of Calais’ shopping areas - the Place D'Armes and Rue Royale, are close to the port, while Boulevard Jacquard and Boulevard La Fayette are in the south of the town past the Town Hall. Also worth visiting is rue des Fontinettes, past the Theatre, which has its own enclave of household shops - butchers, bakers, charcuterie and wine merchant. All streets are within an easy walk of each other.

Colorful and lively open-air markets are held twice weekly in the Place d'Armes, (Wednesday and Saturday) and in the south of the town at Place Crevecoeur (Thursday and Saturday).

Shopping choices in the town include the Charost development near the Theatre (off bld Jacquard) which includes a supermarket and a large number of shops.

There is also a major shopping mall near the Eurotunnel entrance called Cite Europe (www.citeeurope.com). It is outside Calais and it is, therefore, necessary to take a bus from Opera to the mall. Note that the last bus back leaves quite early and missing it will mean a taxi ride back to the marina.
