Boulogne - General Info

Apr 27, 2024

Description:

Boulogne is a major port approximately 15nm southwest of Calais. In spite of the destruction caused during World War 11, the medieval town walls and castle survived.

Boulogne is no longer a ferry port, but is still busy with fishing vessels. While it remains listed as an official port of entry, there are in fact no officials here to process arrivals and departures, and you will have to take the train to Calais to clear in/out. It is therefore not recommended as a port of entry.

Entrance Notes and Cautions:

The entrance is possible at all stages of the tide and in most weather. Being a fishing port there are a large number of ship movements in and out of the port.

Position:

50° 44'95"N, 01° 34'11"E (harbor entrance)
