Isla de Providencia - Clearance

Mar 01, 2024

For detailed information on the formalities required for clearing into and out of Colombia go to Colombia Formalities.

For a list of agents see Clearance Agents.

General Process:

Clearance formalities must be completed even if coming from mainland Colombia.

Visas are not required, nor issued.

Clearance is required before anchoring anywhere on the Island, including Low Cay.

There are only 2 agents on the Island, either one can be used for clearing in and out.  Contact "Mr Bush" or "Alex" on VHF Ch. 16 (not between 1200-1400 when the whole town shuts for lunch).

The agent will meet you on the jetty with the Immigration officials, port officials and island administration. Passports are sent to the airport for stamping and will be returned an hour or so later.

Domestic Clearance:

If coming from another Colombian port, simply notify the agent of your arrival.

Departure:

Make arrangements to clear out a day or two before you intend to leave as not all officials are available at the same time to do all the paperwork.
