Playa Blanca (Marina Rubicon) - Docking

Oct 26, 2022

Playa Blanca:

Owned by Puertos Canarios, Playa Blanca is a government-run port. Full details of the port are on the Puertos Canarios website. However, visiting yachts are not accepted here due to the lack of space at the floating pontoons.

Anchoring in Playa Blanca harbor is prohibited. In settled weather with winds from the north, it is possible to anchor to the east, well clear of the entrance.

Marina Rubicon:

Arriving yachts should contact the marina on VHF Channel 09 before entering the port.  The receiving dock is below the distinctive"red-topped" lighthouse next to the fuel dock. An attendant will wait there and allocate a slip and help dock the boat with an inflatable dinghy. Ships papers, passports and yacht insurance must be produced when checking in.

There is an anchorage, only suitable for use in settled conditions, NE of the entrance channel and clear of the channel markers. It has 3-4m over sand but holding is reported to be poor.
