Description:
Though the majority of cruisers visit Pico by ferry from Horta, the number of visiting yachts is increasing. With its striking mountain peak, the obvious excursion here is to the top with spectacular views. The Island also has whaling museums and wineries.
Madalena is a municipality on the western coast of Pico and is the island's capital.

Pico’s scenery is magnificent, particularly the volcanic landscapes. Also of note are the tiny, walled vineyards from which come the grapes for Pico’s famous wines.
Madalena’s old town, is a must see with the picturesque streets of Consuelheiro Terra Pinheiro and the Ouvidor Medeiros along with the Igreja de Santa María Madalena Church, with twin towers crowned by hexagonal spires and a 19th century clock.
