The marina now has laundry facilities - one washing machine and one dryer. Mrs. Pimentel the mother of the marina manager also provides a laundry service.
There are no launderettes in town.
Paula's restaurant, up the hill, is a pick-up and drop-off point for the local laundry service. A little expensive but worth it if you have just crossed the Atlantic!
Lages is a very nice little town.
There are however no big supermarkets on the island. There are 3 stores that are provisioned every fortnight by boat. So the supply of fruit and vegetables sometimes runs low before the boat arrives every second Wednesday (with stores stocked the next day). Meat is frozen; fresh meat is available at a small but excellent butcher in Santa Cruz.
