Restrictions for Yachts in Kenya

  • The authorities are trying hard to protect wildlife, and it is a serious offense (punishable by major fine or jail time) to buy and attempt to export ivory, animal skins and stuffed animals.
  • It is forbidden to photograph ports, police, naval buildings, vessels or personnel.
  • Kenya's coastline includes a number of designated Marine Parks, National Reserves and Conservation Areas. It is advisable to familiarise yourself with where these are, along with the various restrictions and fees.  See the following report from Sarah Ovens of SV Excelsior.
