Kenya Immigration Procedures for Yacht Crew

Kenya Immigration Procedure:

A Kenya Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) must be applied for in advance - go to https://www.etakenya.go.ke/en. This replaces the e-Visa.

Kilifi is the preferred port of entry for yachts, however this does not feature on the list of options. Instead select Malindi and go to Kilifi.

The eTA is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

• The single entry eTA fee is USD 32.50 per traveller, plus bank and processing fees.
• The multiple entry eTA fee is USD 160 per traveller, plus bank and processing fees

All visitors must have a valid passport valid for at least 6 months.

Visit Immigration after getting your Transire from Customs.

Do I need a Visa?

•    South Africans do not need a visa and are automatically granted 30 days entry for free. After 30 days, a visa must be purchased for USD 50 for the next 90 days.
•    All other citizens must buy an eTA.
•    In the event that you have eTA difficulties, contact Kilifi Boatyard who can assist you (kilifiboats@gmail.com).

Other Visa Information:

Your stay period may be renewed for a further 90 days at the immigration headquarters in Nairobi. The maximum number of days a visitor may stay in Kenya is 6 months.

The East African Tourist Visa (Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda) is honored as long as the first country visited is the country from which it was issued. The EATV is valid for up to 90 days.
