Italy - Customs

Mar 20, 2025

Arriving by Yacht:

EU regulations apply concerning temporary importation. See the EU VAT page on Noonsite for more information (below Schengen information). Non-EU boats should report to Customs on arrival, as well as EU boats coming from a non-EU country.

Stop and search operations by Italian Police/Customs are not uncommon, and are more likely if a boat does not respond to an initial call on VHF Channel 16.

Other Items:

Firearms must be declared on arrival. The penalty for non-declaration is imprisonment.

See the Customs website for a list of common questions.
