COVID-19: 

• Italy dropped all Covid-related travel restrictions on 1 June, 2022.

History:

• 10 March, 2020, the whole country went into Lockdown. In many ports boats were not allowed in or out.
• 17 March a decree was published whereby all individuals entering Italy by any means of transportation were obliged to self-quarantine (on board) for 14 days even if they had no symptoms of Covid-19. Marinas were required to screen all arrivals and place them in quarantine.
• Restrictions began to slowly ease at the start of May. Yacht arrivals were permitted with 14 days quarantine on arrival and a justified reason for visiting.
• Mid-May movement between regions in Italy was permitted.
• June 03, Italy's maritime borders re-opened to all yachts coming from other EU countries with no quarantine. Entry applied to where you came from geographically in the last 14 days, and was not limited to nationality.
• In August the requirement to have negative test results on arrival was introduced.
• From 2021 it is no longer possible to be tested on arrival, nor have the test 72 hrs prior to transit to Italy. All results must be obtained 48 hrs prior to arrival in Italy. If this is not possible, yachts must self-isolate for 5 days on arrival.
• Travel to Italy from outside the EU was restricted prior to April 2021.
• In 2022 restrictions eased substantially and on June 1st, all were lifted.
